The Gyokuro Brewing Process
-
First Infusion (50-60°C)
The tea’s sweetness and deep umami come to life, creating a smooth and luxurious first sip. Steep for 2 to 3 minutes.
-
Second Infusion (65-70°C)
The flavours deepen, introducing gentle vegetal notes with subtle savouriness. Steep for 1 minute.
-
Third Infusion (75-80°C)
The final steep reveals a richer, slightly astringent character, finishing with a lasting, satisfying aftertaste. Steep for 30 seconds.
How to Store Japanese Tea
Unopened Tea: Store the tea in a cool, dark place, away from heat and moisture. For long-term storage, you can place the resealable original packaging inside an airtight bag and freeze it. Allow the tea to return to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.
Opened Tea: Keep the tea either in the resealable original packaging or transfer it to an airtight tea caddy. Store it in a cool, dark place, and keep it away from strong-smelling items to preserve its freshness and aroma.
