GABA Gyokuro TSUYUHIKARI

Kanoa Tea’s GABA Gyokuro TSUYUHIKARI is an elegant Gyokuro made from the Tsuyuhikari cultivar, characterised by a fresh, clear profile, gentle creamy sweetness, naturally high levels of amino acids such as GABA and L-theanine, and a bright, refined finish.

* One of the highest quality Japanese tea varieties, which, through shade cultivation, has a high amino acid content and a rich umami flavour.
** GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. It has been demonstrated to calm the nervous system and regulate excitability, sleep, and anxiety.

Deep umami richness with elegant natural sweetness, a silky mouthfeel, and a long, refined finish.

Fresh, gently sweet, elegant with a clear finish.

Our GABA Gyokuro TSUYUHIKARI impresses with a fresh and refined flavour profile, featuring delicate creamy sweetness, bright green notes, and a light, refreshing finish.

Naturally rich in GABA and L-theanine, and with a moderate caffeine level, it is ideal for mindful tea moments as well as for light pairings such as afternoon tea, fine sandwiches, scones, or pâtisserie.

For preparation, we recommend 3 g of tea with 120–150 ml of water at 50–55 °C, steeped for 3 minutes, allowing the texture, clarity, and balance of the tea to fully unfold.

3 KEY FEATURES OF TSUYUHIKARI

Fresh, Clear Character of the Cultivar

TSUYUHIKARI is known for its bright, refreshing aroma with clean green notes.
The cultivar naturally brings lightness, clarity, and refined elegance to the cup.

Natural Sweetness & Smooth Mouthfeel

The leaf structure of TSUYUHIKARI supports a high level of L-theanine, which results in a gentle, creamy sweetness and a particularly round, smooth texture.

Balanced Amino Acid Profile (GABA & L-theanine)

Combined with the specialised processing, TSUYUHIKARI is exceptionally suitable for GABA Gyokuro. The cultivar supports a harmonious balance of GABA and L-theanine without weighing down the flavour.

  • First Infusion (50-60°C)

The tea’s sweetness and deep umami come to life, creating a smooth and luxurious first sip. Steep for 2 to 3 minutes.

  • Second Infusion (65-70°C)

The flavours deepen, introducing gentle vegetal notes with subtle savouriness. Steep for 1 minute.

  • Third Infusion (75-80°C)

The final steep reveals a richer, slightly astringent character, finishing with a lasting, satisfying aftertaste. Steep for 30 seconds.
